Competition Overview

General Format*

Each participating country – Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico and the United States – will host a three-day PBR Global Cup event each year.

Edmonton, Alberta's, state-of-the-art Rogers Place will host the inaugural Global Cup event Nov. 9-11.

The three days of competition on November 9th-11th, 2017 will proceed as follows:

  • Thursday, Nov. 9 - Canadian Team Qualifier
  • Friday Nov. 10 - Global Cup, Round 1
  • Saturday Nov. 11 - Global Cup, Round 2


Canada, as the host-country, will have home-field advantage and feature 14 riders on their rosters. The visiting teams will bring seven of their best.

Each team will be allowed 1 alternate in case of injury.

The prestigious Global Cup Trophy will be awarded to the team with the highest aggregate score over the course of the event based off each team's best 14 qualified rides.

Team Qualifications

Host Team (Canada)

  • Top 5 Canadian riders in the PBR World Standings as of August 19th, 2017 automatically qualify
  • 5 additional riders will earn the right based on results of the Canadian Qualifier event
  • 4 discretionary picks and 1 alternate will be chosen by the Coach/Team

Visiting Team – (Australia, Brazil, Mexico & USA)

  • Top 5 riders from each territory in the PBR World Standings as of August 19th, 2017 automatically qualify.
  • 1 Position will be determined by the Country National Standings announced on October 9th, 2017
  • 1 Position and the Alternate will be selected by the Coach/Team announced on October 9th, 2017

 

Global Cup Competition

Each day of competition will feature the following format with all qualified rides counting toward the final accumulated totals.  (Actual International team positioning to be randomly drawn for Day 1 on October 16th, 2017)

  • Team Canada: 7 riders
  • Team Mexico: 7 riders
  • Team Australia: 7 riders
  • Team Brazil: 7 riders
  • Team Australia: 7 riders
  • Team Canada: 7 riders
  • Bonus round of 2 riders per territory selected by Coach/Team


The Top 14 qualified rides from each team will be counted toward their aggregate score, with the highest being named the PBR Global Cup event winner.
