PBR AUSTRALIA
Professional Bull Riders (PBR) was founded in 1992 by a group of 20 visionary bull riders who broke away from the traditional rodeo scene in search of mainstream attention, new riches, and a sustainable future for cowboys in the most popular rodeo discipline: bull riding.
Today, over 800 bull riders from around the world, including the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, and Mexico, hold PBR memberships and compete in more than 200 PBR-sanctioned events, with a total of $10 million awarded annually.
In Australia, Professional Bull Riders (PBRA) stages more than 22 events each year. With an annual live crowd attendance of over 75,000, PBRA has sold out many of the nation’s indoor arenas, including those in Cairns, Townsville, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Newcastle, Tamworth, Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide, as well as numerous regional locations across NT, QLD, NSW, VIC, and SA.
Prize money earned at these events enables riders to qualify for PBR Origin and Grand Final Events in Australia and offers a genuine pathway to the U.S. circuit, where Australian bull riders can compete for substantial prize money and make their mark on the world stage.
With cowboys continuing to enter the mainstream, extreme sports featuring jaw-dropping bursts of action growing in popularity, world-class event production, and PBR’s expanding reach across broadcast, cable, and digital channels, the sport’s future is very bright. Fan support continues to grow, underscoring the sport’s promising trajectory.
