Prior to the 2021 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Australia Monster Energy Tour Grand Finals in Townsville, Queensland, on Nov. 26-27, the league has announced the top contenders for the prestigious YETI Bull, Rookie Bull and Stock Contractor of the Year honors that will be determined inside the Townsville Entertainment & Convention Centre.

The 2021 YETI PBR Australia Bull and Rookie Bull of the Year will be the animal athlete with the top average score when combining his Top 4 outs from the season and his last out at the 2021 PBR Australia Monster Energy Tour Grand Finals.

While all ABBI (American Bucking Bull Inc.)-registered bulls with four outs or more during the regular season can contend for the Bull of the Year honor, to be eligible for the Rookie Bull of the Year title, the animal athlete’s first season bucking at PBR competitions must have been no earlier than 2020.

To be eligible for the 2021 YETI PBR Australia Stock Contractor of the Year honor, a company must be a member of the ABBI, and have participated at four Monster Energy Tour events in addition to being selected for the Grand Finals. At each event, a minimum of five bulls from the company must have bucked, logging a collective five trips.

The Stock Contractor of the Year will be the outfit with the top average score when combining his company’s Top 4 average out scores from the regular season, with his average performance scores at the Grand Finals. Each event score is determined by the average of all the marks posted by the company’s bulls at a given event. 

The 2021 YETI PBR Australia Bull and Stock Contractor of the Year will each receive a $5,000 bonus, while the 2021 YETI PBR Australia Rookie Bull of the Year will earn a earn a $4,080 bonus.

The 2021 season has been dominated by Cattle King Boogers Beach and the rank pen from Dittmann Bucking Bulls. Cattle King Boogers Beach not only leads the YETI Bull of the Year race, but is also atop the standings for the YETI Rookie Bull of the Year honor, 0.5 points ahead of Razor Sharp who is the No. 2 contender on both leaderboards.

Cattle King Boogers Beach bucked at 10 of the 14 PBR Australia events held during the regular season, earning the top bull score in nine of his outs. Amassing a 45.125-point average, Cattle King Boogers Beach’s Top 4 scores have all been for45 points or more.

As the 2021 season got underway with a doubleheader in Rockhampton, Cattle King Boogers Beach was first marked 45 points for his 6-second buckoff of Macaulie Leather, before posting an improved 45.5-point score for his swifter 2.49-second buckoff of Leather the next day.

Cattle King Boogers Beach remained electric in his very next out as he returned to the arena in Townsville for the Touring Pro Division event held in tandem with the North Queensland Elite Junior Rodeo. Tying for the top bull honors with fellow Dittmann bovine athlete POA Fully Locked & Loaded, Boogers Beach was scored 45 points for his 3.66-second buckoff of Leather.

One of the rank bovines selected to buck at the landmark 2021 PBR Origin tournament, Cattle King Boogers Beach was again marked 45 points in mid-July at the second iteration of the team event in Cairns. Marking the lone qualified ride aboard the bull this season. Boogers Beach teamed with Lachlan Slade for a 90-point ride.

While all eyes have been on Cattle King Boogers Beach, Wallace Bucking Bulls’ standout Razor Sharp has remained a consistent force in PBR Australia competition.

Razor Sharp registered 12 outs on Australia soil in 2021, earning the Bull of the Event honor five times.

The impressive animal athlete was notably logged a career-best 45 points in July during PBR Origin II  - Cairns courtesy of his 3.22-second trip with Kurt Shephard, and capped the year with the top score of the event, marked 44.5 points at the seventh event of the season in Rockhampton when he tossed Lawson Nobbs in 4.54 seconds.

No. 5 (tie) Black Tuxedo (Wallace Bucking Bulls) – 44 points (-1.13 points)
No. 5 (tie) Roid Rage (Dittmann Bucking Bulls) – 44 points (-1.13 points)

No. 7 Flyin Hippie (Wallace Bucking Bulls) – 43.75 points (-1.38 points)

 

The top contenders for this year’s YETI PBR Australia Rookie Bull of the Year honor are:

No. 1 Cattle King Boogers Beach (Dittmann Bucking Bulls) – 45.125 points

No. 2 Razor Sharp (Wallace Bucking Bulls) – 44.625 points (-0.5 points)

No. 3 Pretty Boy (Wallace Bucking Bulls) – 44.375 points (-0.75 points)
No. 4 Reloaded (Dittmann Bucking Bulls) – 44.125 points (-1 point)
No. 5 Roid Rage (Dittmann Bucking Bulls) – 44.000 points (-1.125 points)

The success of Cattle King Boogers Beach, and the outfit’s other talented animal athletes, led Dittmann Bucking Bulls to conclude the regular season atop the standings for the YETI PBR Australia Stock Contractor of the Year honor, 0.3049 points ahead of No. 2 Wallace Bucking Bulls.

Other Dittmann Bucking Bulls’ standouts include Reloaded and Roid Rage, both of whom are also contending for Bull and Rookie Bull of the Year.

The top contenders for this year’s YETI PBR Australia Stock Contractor of the Year honor are:

No. 1 Dittmann Bucking Bulls – 43.0513 points

No. 2 Wallace Bucking Bulls – 42.7464 points (-0.3049 points)

No. 3 Dunne Bucking Bulls – 41.6719 points (-1.3794 points)

No. 4 Brandenburg Bucking Bulls – 41.5931 points (-1.4582 points)

No. 5 Kleier Bucking Bulls – 41.1367 points (-1.9146 points)

 

The bull riding action for 2021 PBR Australia Monster Energy Tour Grand Finals begins at 8:00 p.m. AEST on Friday, November 26 and at 7:30 p.m. AEST on Saturday, November 27 at the Townsville Entertainment & Convention Centre.

Each rider will attempt one bull each in Round 1 and Round 2 on Friday, November 26, followed by Round 3 and Round 4 on Saturday, November 27. Following Round 4, the Top 8 riders will advance to the championship round.

The rider with the highest aggregate score throughout fve rounds will win the PBR Australia Grand Finals event title. Throughout the year-end events, riders will also be vying for their share of the $40,000 available in prize money.

A maximum 200 points are available to one rider.
