Queensland-Native Brady Fielder Finishes Second at PBR Challenger Series Event in Sioux City, Iowa

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – As the Sioux City Classic PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Challenger Series event in Sioux City, Iowa, rolled to a close Saturday night, Australian sensation Brady Fielder (Clermont, Queensland, Australia) finished both second and seventh compliments of a double-entry, garnering a combined 27 Challenger Series points.

Finishing Friday night atop the leaderboard, the Ariat Texas Rattlers’ Fielder earned his silver finish via his 84.5-point trip atop Dirt Gangster (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls).

When competition continued Saturday evening, Fielder clinched his seventh-place effort when he conquered Dirty Lyle (L4 Livestock) for a resounding 81 points.

California cowboy Chase Wimer (Corning, California) collected the win in Iowa.

With a rocky start to his weekend on Friday night after GMoney (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) launched him to the ground after just 3.48 seconds, Wimer knew he had to give Saturday his all.

Beginning the night aboard Another Player (Johnson Bucking Bulls), Wimer set the tone early on, recording an 84.5-point score.

Laser-focused on the back of the chutes as the championship round began, the 23-year-old rider prepared for his matchup with Crazed Addiction (Cornwell Bucking Bulls).

In a uniquely formatted weekend that featured nightly regular and championship rounds, it was ultimately Wimer’s 86-point score in Saturday’s final round that clinched his victory.

The young gun left Iowa with 42.5 Challenger Series points and a check for $10,124.69.

With the exception of Wimer, Fielder and the other riders putting it all on the line in Saturday’s championship round were no match for the extreme athleticism of the PBR bulls.

2004 PBR World Champion Mike Lee (Decatur, Texas) sported a fifth-place finish as the Sioux City Classic began on Friday night and kicked off Saturday night as the first rider out of the chutes.

Paired with Twisted Thoughts (Triplett/Sterk), Lee’s 84-point ride score earned him third place on the weekend and 13 Challenger Series points.

After a three-way tie for second place on Friday night, Travis Wimberley (Las Lunas, New Mexico), Matt Allgood (Saline, Michigan) and Dustin Herman (Great Falls, North Carolina) finished out the weekend again in a three-way tie for a fourth-place finish overall.  

The first in the trio to record a score on Saturday night, Allgood launched from the chutes clinging to Kodach Rome (L4 Livestock) for a less-than-ideal 78.5-point score.

Shortly after, Herman attempted Pneu-Dart’s Coal Miner (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls) to no avail. The powerful animal athlete dispatched the North Carolina cowboy in just under five seconds.

The last in the trio to climb aboard on Saturday night was Wimberley, paired with Pneu-Dart’s Southern Twist (Mike Miller Bucking Bulls). Slammed to the ground without making the 8, the young gun 18-year-old from New Mexico was in visible pain as the sports medicine team helped him out of the arena.

Despite the falters as the weekend closed out, all three cowboys collected 5.66 Challenger points.

The top bull riders of the PBR Challenger Series will next travel to the Stark County Fairgrounds in Dickinson, North Dakota, for the Dakota Community Bank & Trust 4^th Annual Dickinson PBR, Sept. 2-3.
